Square 1.02
As Jeff put it, “as close as you can get to square one without officially being in it.”
The agent’s conversation with the attorney/new owner was not encouraging. No, he doesn’t want to own it. But he doesn’t seem to be in much hurry to unload it either - wouldn’t suggest a price and has no idea how long it will take to clear the title. He even joked (?) about leaving it for his sons to work out, presumably after he’s gone. The conclusion was “call me after Christmas”.
So, we’ll be calling after Christmas, probably. In the meantime, we’re sending over the receipts for what we spent on the land, to request reimbursement.
The agents are resuming their searches for some other land for sale, and we will undoubtedly do a little bit of looking around as well. If we’re not too exhausted by the thought.

Oh, I’d say it’s really more like step 1.2, no 0 involved…besides, who knows what other land is out there that will be much easier to purchase.
