Picky Details such as Death
We learned more yesterday. The previous owner had, in fact, already died when his son used his power of attorney to sell the land. Minor problem, since you aren’t allowed to sign anything after you are dead, even if somebody else is willing to move their still-functional muscles to do it for you.
Still don’t know if the previous attorney knew Dad was dead when Son came in to sell the land. Or if Son knew this was against the rules. Or if Current Seller knew any of this before 8:30am on our scheduled closing date.
The latest word is it will take “a few weeks” - tracking down what happened in probate and finding the other heirs, I guess. Our certified check has been redeposited at the bank.
We wait. Jeff is working on his patience skills. :)
